French Panel Urges CNES To Sell Its Arianespace Shares
PARIS – A French government body that is crafting a law to govern space activities is proposing that the French space agency, CNES, divest its ownership stake in the Arianespace launch consortium and rethink its commercial offer to provide orbit-raising services for satellite owners. The French Conseil d’Etat, in a draft law designed to organize French space activities, is giving CNES a formal, regulatory role and is therefore concerned that, as a regulator, the space agency should not also have interests in commercial activities such as orbit-raising services.

CNN — Military officers in Gabon have declared they were seizing power from President Ali Bongo Ondimba in a stunning coup, threatening the family’s half-century rule over the central African nation. Men in army uniform appeared on national television Wednesday to announce the president’s house arrest during the military takeover, prompting celebrations and reports of gunfire on the streets of the capital – but condemnation overseas. “It is brought to the attention of the national and international community that Ali Bongo Ondimba is being kept under house arrest,” an unnamed junta spokesperson said on state TV on Wednesday morning, adding that the ousted president is surrounded by his “family and doctors.

Nationalists Hold Annual Russian March
Nationalists walked along a downtown embankment Sunday shouting anti-Kremlin slogans in the annual Russian March, which was beset by low turnout and occasionally dangerous antics, including an attempt to shoot at a police helicopter with a flare gun.
The march, which took place on the National Unity Day holiday, saw some 6,000 people representing various nationalist groups, from moderate to far-right, walk along the Moscow River across from the Kremlin waving yellow-black-and-white imperial flags.
